During the Easter season The Washington Post sponsored a Peeps diorama contest where people had to get creative with the famous Easter candy. The winning entries and the runners-up were on display during the month-long Artomatic 2008 in Washington, DC. This video focuses on the Peeps artist reception that was held in the Artomatic building on May 31, 2008. Just Born, the manufacturer of Peeps, supplied the hors d'oeuvers. The video also includes a brief conversation with notable Peeps artist Carl Cordell as he talks about his three dioramas that were on display (along with a note saying that a fourth one, The Day the Earth Stood Peeped, was currently under construction). By the way, Carl Cordell was the only Peeps artist who attended the reception that day. The others were no-shows for whatever reason. At the time this video was shot, Carl Cordell was working on another diorama that he hadn't finished yet. This latest diorama, "The Day The Earth Stood Peeped", wouldn't be finally unveiled at Artomatic until June 14--the day before Artomatic's final day.
